Finding the ponds

The ponds are located inside the Waimea river berm park at Appleby. Take highway 60 from the 3 Brothers corner roundabout towards Motueka for about 3 kilometres. About 100 meters past the Appleby Bridge turn left into River Road. Travel on River road about 2.5 kilometers  to the intersection with Waimea West road . Turn left onto Waimea West road and  travel about 2 kilometers until you come to  Challies road. Turn left  into Challies road and proceed to the end. Go over the stop bank and follow the track to the left. The track goes past the stock yards and then along the lower side of the wetlands and the fishout ponds. Turn left just past the end of the kids fishing ponds , go over the small culvert and you will be at the ponds.

Parking is at the western end of the ponds where the Trust facilities and toilets are located.

Drive carefully on the track and watch for oncoming vehicles.
